TBD
I chose the blog entry title TBD because I wanted something to fill in the white space and I haven't yet decided on a title- I felt anxious that I haven't "worked" on work in a while, and having nothing in this section felt almost wrong.
I guess I didn't feel like anything I've done recently could be considered "work" so to speak. Part of that, I think, is not having a comprehensive idea, identity, or sense of association of my life and "work" as a concept.
While unemployed I think it is normal to not associate my activities with "work", like the fun little designs and small things I do.
But it is, and I am.
But I think it is important to think of it as work, even if it's small and silly. Because I had a problem, even while working at Apple. I didn't feel a sense of ownership or that I was really working, even when I was contributing to a actual project. Even while I was working, that sense of not working wasn't still present.
So the reason why it is important to reaffirm to myself, even for these small things, is to kind of recondition my thoughts on what constitutes "work". It is simply recognizing the effort and wholeness of small actions you take towards productivity. Otherwise, you (or I guess I) will end up with a perpetual sense of incompletion and dissatisfaction with anything that you do.
If not directly work towards employment in software engineering, it is work towards bettering my design, my productivity, my organizational skills - which are all if not directly at least tangentially related and helpful.
A 16-bit pitbull!
I made a logo (above!) and bought a domain name (yay bitpulls!). I created something. I thought of an idea and made it so.
BitPulls is a play on words - I thought pitbulls were cute and the spoonerism appealed to me. It sounded like something vaguely technology related with (Bit) and maybe something GitHub related (Pulls).
It was simple and now I have a website with a logo and a personal website with a custom e-mail now that my student e-mail is expiring. Go me!
So that was my day. The rest of this work blog, though, is still TBD :)
